Professor Parr is a full-time Consultant Respiratory Physician at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and is Honorary Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Warwick Medical School.

• David graduated in Medical Sciences at Cambridge University and completed his undergraduate medical training at The Royal London Hospital Medical College, London in 1994. His postgraduate specialist training in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine was obtained in the West Midlands Deanery where he was also a Clinical Research Fellow and Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He is actively engaged in research in quantitative lung imaging, respiratory physiology, clinical phenotyping and outcomes, and has published widely in these fields.

• His clinical practice spans all areas of adult respiratory medicine with sub-specialty interest in airways disease (COPD / emphysema, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, bronchiectasis, bronchiolitis), interstitial lung disease, pulmonary thromboembolism and thoracic malignancy. He was the Head of Medicine and, over a seven year tenure, the Clinical Director of Cardio-Thoracic and Infectious Diseases Services, leading on all aspects of the clinical services, including clinical governance.

• David has undertaken training in medico-legal expert practice, acts as an expert in the coroner’s court, and accepts medico-legal instructions in the following areas:

• Adult respiratory medicine

• Pulmonary embolism

• Respiratory infections

• Thoracic malignancy

• Invasive diagnostic techniques and interventions, including bronchoscopy

• COPD, emphysema, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, asthma, bronchiectasis and bronchiolitis

• Interstitial lung diseases

• Occupational lung diseases

• Sleep medicine and ventilation

• Respiratory failure
