Professor Parr is a practising Consultant Respiratory Physician and Head of Medicine at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and is Honorary Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Warwick Medical School.
David graduated in Medical Sciences at Cambridge University and completed his undergraduate medical training at The Royal London Hospital Medical College, London in 1994. His postgraduate specialist training in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine was obtained in the West Midlands Deanery where he was also a Clinical Research Fellow and Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He is actively engaged in research in quantitative lung imaging, respiratory physiology and clinical phenotyping, and has published widely in these fields.
His clinical practise spans all areas of adult respiratory medicine with particular sub-specialty interest in airways disease, interstitial lung disease, sleep medicine and ventilation, pulmonary thromboembolism and thoracic malignancy. As Clinical Director of Cardio-Thoracic Services, he was responsible for leading on all aspects of the clinical services in Respiratory Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Cardiology and Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, including clinical governance, over a seven-year tenure.
David has undertaken training in medico-legal expert practice, acts as an expert in the coroner’s court, and accepts medico-legal instructions in the following areas:
