I am a consultant physician with an interest in diabetes & endocrinology and acute/general medicine with a busy practice within Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust serves a population of 420,000 in West Yorkshire.
I grew up in the City of Bath and studied at King Edward’s School. I chose to study Medicine at Leeds University and qualified with MbChB in 1996. I spent time at Bradford Royal Infirmary before undertaking further training in Derby, where I passed the MRCP in 2000. I spent a year working in the speciality of diabetes & endocrinology in Hamilton, New Zealand before returning to West Yorkshire in 2002 to undertake my specialist training. I achieved specialist registration in diabetes & endocrinology and general medicine in 2007 and started as a consultant that year, initially in Scunthorpe General Hospital before my substantive and current appointment in 2009. I was awarded FRCP in 2016.
My clinical practice covers general diabetes, a specialist diabetes foot clinic, a general endocrine service and thyroid cancer clinic as well as working in the acute medical unit receiving acute medical emergencies from A+E and general practice.
I have undertaken training in medicolegal practice and offer medico-legal expertise and reports in diabetes & endocrinology as well as general and acute medicine.
