Dr Evans is a consultant haematologist, with a specialist interest in blood coagulation, at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, Canterbury. She was appointed to this post in 2002 following completion of training in at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. In 2010 she was appointed to the positions of Trust Thrombosis Lead Clinician, and of Haemophilia Centre Director with responsibility for the budget, reporting, governance and patient care at the Centre. She has successfully delivered the venous thrombosis prevention programme for the trust and oversees root cause analysis investigations for hospital acquired thrombosis. She continues to work in direct patient care, holding clinics for patients with bleeding disorders, thrombosis and non malignant haematological conditions.
She has been involved in numerous inspections / accreditation visits by authorities such as CPA, the MHRA and more recently UKAS. As the current the head of Laboratory, Haematology and Blood Transfusion Services, it is under her leadership that the Haematology and transfusion laboratory has recently been awarded UKAS accreditation.
She is an examiner with the Royal College of Pathologists, Chair of the Trust Thrombosis Group, and a member of the Pathology Governance and Management Committee.
Dr Evans accepts instructions generally from claimant and defendant lawyers investigating clinical negligence cases, and for Inquests. Her subspecialist interest lies in the field of haemostasis, thrombosis and non-malignant haematology for both adult and paediatric services.
