Learn how to be an effective expert witness

Taught by leading medico-legal experts, our expert witness training courses cover all the key skills you’ll need to succeed in this role. We offer both online and face-to-face training in this area.

The courses are suitable for medical professionals who are new to expert witness work and also for more experienced practitioners.

All courses are accredited for CPD by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Choose how you study

Currently, we offer four online courses:

Online courses

For each course, we have designed most of the interactive tasks around one case study. You can either take each course as a standalone module or complete all four courses in chronological order and take this case through the various stages of litigation.

Face-to-face training

We also hold regular two-day training courses in England and Scotland:

Expert Witness Training (England)

Expert Witness Training (Scotland)

Gaining practical experience

Our expert witness training is highly interactive – with practical tasks to test your learning as you progress.

On completion, you will have a good understanding of the litigation process, your roles and responsibilities and how to fulfil your duties to the highest standards.

Expert witness training certification

RCSOn completion of each expert witness course, you will receive a CPD certificate, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. If you complete our two-day face-to-face course or all four of our online courses, you can apply to become an Inspire MediLaw Accredited Expert.

Training led by renowned legal experts

Our expert witness courses are taught by many distinguished barristers, lawyers, solicitors and a former high court judge. So, you will learn from some of the brightest minds in the legal sector.

Alongside our legal experts, you will also learn from medics who are highly experienced expert witnesses. These experts share their expertise, insights and tips to support your development.
