About Dr Smruta Shanbhag

Dr Shanbhag qualified from Goa University, India, in 1995 and undertook specialist post-graduate training in Gynaecology and sub-specialty training in Gynaecological Oncology in UK. She is a specialist in the diagnosis and surgical and non-surgical management of general gynaecological conditions. She is dual accredited in Gynaecological Oncology, with expertise in diagnosis, investigations and surgical management of all cancers of the female genital tract.

She has an interest in post-operative morbidity and completed a CPD certificate in Palliative Care at Teesside University to develop her understanding of pain mechanisms and management in gynaecological conditions.

Accredited by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, Dr Shanbhag has expertise in abnormal smears and colposcopy for HPV and non-HPV related disease of the vulva, vagina and cervix.

Dr Shanbhag has had training in Forensic Offenses examination.
