Dr Harris was appointed a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 1999 following training in Emergency Medicine in North West London. She moved to University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust in 2003.

She has worked full time In Emergency Medicine and been Lead Clinician for the Emergency Department and Head of School for Emergency Medicine in the Wessex Deanery.

She has a clear understanding of training in Emergency Medicine and the competences of emergency medicine doctors in training. Julia is the Patient Safety Lead for Wessex Deanery.

Dr Harris has been providing expert advice in Emergency Medicine throughout her consultant career. She is accredited with Cardiff University/Bond Solon as an Expert Witness (2005) and undertakes regular CPD to support her expert witness work.
