Matthew has over 20 years’ experience in the health and insurance sectors and heads up the independent health offering at Browne Jacobson in London as part of the Health Advisory and Litigation team. He specialises in Clinical Negligence including diagnostics/pathology, birth injury claims, neurosurgery (particularly skull base surgery) and health tech.

Recent experience includes successes in the High Court and Court of Appeal on the duties of ‘super- specialists’ in the context of the diagnosis/treatment of congenital Aplastic Anaemia in Meiklejohn –v- St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust and Homerton University Hospitals NHS Trust [2014] EWCA Civ 120 (Chambers Directory clinical negligence case of the year). He is a regular speaker on legal developments, Clinical Negligence and costs reform. He is rated as a ‘Super-Lawyer’ By Thomson-Reuters and by Chambers Directory (“extraordinarily effective … very robust in his style although personally a very affable guy”) and Legal 500 (“brings with him specialist experience in obstetric brain injury cases, neurosurgical claims, and matters involving screening and pathology”).
