Ian Cohen

Ian runs The Cohen Consultancy Limited, advising law firms that specialise in medical negligence and serious injury and companies in their supply chain. Previously, Ian spent 30 years working in private practice, specialising in medical negligence, and working for two of the biggest consumer law firms.

Ian is an experienced leader, with strong communication, marketing and data analysis skills. He is experienced in key relationship management, including investor relations. Ian has M&A experience in both buying and selling law firms, as well as WIP book purchases.

During his legal career, Ian has been the Lead Solicitor in two of the largest cases against the NHS, The Royal Liverpool Litigation (Alder Hey Organ Retention scandal) and The George Rowland Litigation. He was also an AvMA panel member for more than 25 years.

Ian is regularly asked to speak at industry events and he has often appeared in the media. Alongside this, he also provides training, mentoring and coaching.

Ian was recognised by The Legal 500 as a ‘Leading Individual’ who “cares greatly, makes a real difference to the cases he is involved in and has the guts and drive to make things happen”. Ian has also been graded as a Band 1 in Chambers & Partners, who said he is an “influential medical negligence lawyer …who is prominent in the industry”.
