Charles Harris QC retired as a senior circuit judge and Oxford’s senior judge in 2017.
He was a barrister for 24 years, practising in London and the Midlands and specialising in medical negligence and personal injury work.
Charles took Silk in 1989 and, in 1993, he became a circuit judge, sitting at Oxford, Birmingham, Northampton and Warwick, and sometimes in the High Court in London. From 1989, Charles was in charge of civil litigation in Oxfordshire and several neighbouring counties.
He was a member of the Parole Board for five years. Made a Bencher of the Inner Temple in 2009, Charles was President of the Council of Her Majesty’s Circuit Judges in 2010.
Charles lives in North Oxfordshire, has three children and eight grandchildren. His interests include skiing, history, mountain walking, architecture and fireworks.
