Christopher Dewhurst

Consultant Neonatal Paediatrician

Christopher is a Consultant Neonatal Paediatrician and Clinical Director for Neonatal Services at Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest neonatal intensive care units in the country with over 1200 admissions per year. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Liverpool; Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children; Vice Chair of the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) “Foundation of Practice” examination; a Course Director for the Newborn Life Support Resuscitation Council course and an examiner for the MRCPCH Clinical examination. He’s previously been the RCPCH College Tutor at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Trainee Programme Director for Paediatrics in Health Education England (North West).

In addition to the standard skill set of a neonatologist Christopher has a particular interest in physiological monitoring, echocardiography and neonatal ventilation. He also cares for infants on the neonatal surgical ward at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital

Since 2012, Christopher has provided medico-legal expert reports for both claimants and defendants in civil litigation cases and the family law courts.
