Zaed Hamady is a Consultant Surgeon at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust with clinical interests in pancreatic, liver and biliary disease, as well as General Surgical diseases, such as hernias and gall bladder problems.
His main area of academic interest is in pancreatic and liver cancer with a research interest in metabolic syndrome and early diagnosis of cancer.
He is Secretary of the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) 2015-present. He is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh.
Zaed has maintained an interest in training throughout his consultant career. Having previously been a senior clinical lecturer in Leeds medical school, he now holds this role in University of Southampton.
He was awarded the Research Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2005 and honoured with the Hunterian Professorship in 2010. His research was nominated for THE (Times Higher Education) award in 2007.
He is a specialist advisor to the Care Quality Commissions for general and HPB surgery.
