I qualified from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School in 1981 and went on to pursue a career in surgery, gaining the FRCS in 1986, before undertaking research into various aspects of colorectal tumour biology which led to an MS in 1993.
I was appointed Consultant General Surgeon at Weston General Hospital in 1996 with a special interest in Gastrointestinal and Breast Surgery. I have extensive experience of managing benign and malignant breast disease. Until 2019 I supported both elective and emergency General Surgery, undertaking a broad range of general surgery procedures, including emergency laparotomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and the surgery of abdominal hernias.
Between 2009 and 2014 I was the Executive Medical Director for Weston Area Health Trust, and as such was involved in all aspects of clinical governance, including the investigation of Never Events and Serious Untoward Incidents.
I provide expert reports in cases of personal injury, medical negligence and for HM coroner, relating to; breast disease, emergency general surgery, the management of gallstones, and the surgery of abdominal hernias.
