Dr Ghadiri is a Medical Ophthalmologist with expertise in Ophthalmology & Internal Medicine. He specialises in the diagnosis & management of eye disorders relating to systemic disease, and medical management of eye disease, chiefly inflammatory eye (uveitis, episcleritis, scleritis, orbit, ocular surface) & neuro-ophthalmic disorders. His priority is for an integrative approach to patient care, teamwork with colleagues from numerous specialities, and ensuring patient voice is heard in clinical practice & research.
He qualified from the University of Cambridge and underwent training in medical ophthalmology and internal medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge, followed by fellowships at the Medical Eye Unit (St Thomas’, London) & Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was then appointed Uveitis locum consultant at Moorfields and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. On the way he worked for over 2 years in Auckland New Zealand, training in internal medicine.
Dr Ghadiri is a member of Inspire MediLaw and has completed the Expert Witness Certificate. He specialises in clinical negligence and personal injury within the fields of Uveitis, Medical Retina, Ophthalmology in the context of Systemic Medicine and Neuro-Ophthalmology
He is lead Medical Ophthalmologist, Honorary Senior Lecturer and NIHR Research Scholar at St Paul’s Eye Unit & University of Liverpool. Other roles include Honorary Secretary for Med Ophth Society UK (MOSUK), co-organising and chairing the society’s annual meeting, bringing together clinicians to share best practice & research. He is also a member of the WHO Uveitis working group, and is Communications Officer for the Uveitis National Clinical Study Group. He has shared integrative care models at international meetings and has worked with WHO Vision Programme and Cochrane Eyes and Vision to promote integration of eye care in universal health coverage. He is presently working within the Medical Ophthalmology steering group of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
As an educator, he is fellow of the Higher Education academy having completed an MClinEd (Merit). He is part of the Med Ophth National Interviewing Committee and was awarded Distinction in the NHS Leadership Academy programme, together with PG.Cert Leadership & Management (distinction). He has written the Eye chapter in the first textbook to cover AI in Clinical Medicine, and has numerous editor roles including section editor for EYE Journal (RCOPhth), disseminating latest research and clinical practices, and section editor for EYE NEWS in the nascent field of Oculomics.
