Dr Crombie is a practising Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He is the Associate Medical Director and the Clinical Lead for Resuscitation, having previously held the position of Clinical Lead Anaesthesia.
He has worked within the NHS for 20 years and was appointed to his current role to support the increased workload at the UK’s military receiving hospital for overseas combat troops. He undertakes anaesthesia for all specialities in the emergency and elective theatres.
Dr Crombie has extensive experience as an air-ambulance physician. He was previously Clinical Lead for the Midlands Air Ambulance and set up the West Midlands Ambulance Service Medical Response Team. He designed and implemented a GMC accredited pre-hospital emergency medicine training scheme which has been rolled out nationally.
His professional practice also includes events. He has been Chief Medical Officer for events as diverse as the Chatsworth International Horse Trials and Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday celebrations in London’s Hyde Park.
