Dr Jacob Opat grew up in Australia where he trained and did his internship.

After moving to the UK in 2003, he undertook GP VTS training in Stevenage.

Since 2008, when he received his MRCGP,​ he has been a full time partner at Cranwich Road Surgery in Hackney, North London. He is also holds a diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.

In addition he has extensive experience with NHS Out of Hours GP services, as well as private GP providers. Currently he undertakes private work for ZoomDoc, which is an app offering freelance GP home visiting.

He is also the elected chair of the North West Hackney GP Consortium, which represents a proportion of local GPs on the City and Hackney CCG.

He has been undertaking personal injury report writing since 2010. He is registered with MedCo for completing reports involving RTA claimants. He sees clients in his surgery in North Hackney, London.

He has been writing clinical negligence reports since 2013, and obtains instructions from both claimant and defence solicitors.

More recently he has been instructed by the GMC in Fitness to Practise cases and has recently been invited to join their panel of GPs to provide provisional opinions.
