Mediation Skills Training Day
|11.30||Structure of Mediation
(Each role play will be pre-assigned. Every attendee will attend both role plays either as a participant or observer)
|16.15||Summary and close|
The use of mediation is becoming increasingly common in the settlement of healthcare disputes, including complaints, clinical negligence claims and serious medical treatment.
This day is aimed at lawyers and healthcare managers (clinical and non-clinical) who have limited experience of mediation and wish to learn more.
Understanding how mediation works and learning about the skills will enable course attendees to ensure the best possible outcome at future mediations where they participate, either as clients or in a mediation advocate role.
The day will finish with 2 mock mediations: 1 clinical negligence and 1 serious medical treatment. Attendees will observe one mediation and participate in the other.
Andrew Hannam is a Partner at Enable Law and an experienced clinical negligence mediator.
Chris Danbury is a Consultant Intensive Care Physician and an experienced serious medical treatment mediator.
Both are panel members of Trust Mediation, which provides mediation services under the NHS Resolution scheme
