Expert Familiarisation Training
This practical training is for experienced medico-legal experts who wish to experience being cross examined in a mock Courtroom scenario.
Many experts feel that appearing in Court is the most daunting aspect of medico-legal practice. It is an infrequent occurrence meaning there are few, if any, opportunities for experts to become familiar with the process. Yet, when it is called for, getting it right really matters.
Inspire MediLaw believe that a medico-legal expert should have a firm grasp of their role, including the practicalities of giving evidence in Court and the purpose of cross examination.
Dr Simon Fox QC, a medically qualified clinical negligence barrister, will give an overview of court etiquette and processes, before commencing an evidence-based role play scenario.
Each delegate will be questioned on the content and detail of a sample medico-legal report from their own specialist area.
Cross examination will take place in front of a select group of peers, and will be recorded. Delegates will then learn from the peer feedback, as well as the footage of their performance in the witness box
The purpose of this intensive training session is to encourage experts to be confident in their knowledge of Court procedure, and in their ability to assist the Court by presenting their evidence in a clear and concise manner.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. There also will be time set aside for general questions throughout the day to ensure each delegate can make the most of this exclusive training.
Maximum of 6 delegates per session.
