Conversations On Consent Edinburgh
Conversations on Consent 2020
Lauren Sutherland QC in conversation with
Nadine Montgomery & Christopher Adams
Edinburgh | 11 September 2020
5pm-7pm with networking & refreshments
Following the landmark Supreme Court decision in the case of Montgomery (Appellant) v Lanarkshire Health Board (Respondent) (Scotland) UKSC 11 the issue of consent has preoccupied medics, patients, and lawyers.
We want to encourage medical and legal professionals to engage on this hot topic – to facilitate better understanding of how this decision should be implemented in clinical practice, what it means for patient safety, and how it should be approached in litigation.
Lauren Sutherland QC, Ampersand Advocates, was a member of the legal team on the Montgomery case. We are thrilled to welcome Lauren, Nadine, and Christopher Adams (Consultant Spinal Surgeon) to get the Conversation on Consent going!
The event is designed for:
– Doctors and healthcare professionals at any stage in their career; and
– Lawyers with a practice or interest in medical law generally, at any stage in their career.
Lauren will open the event with a short presentation on Consent, before joining Nadine and Christopher to discuss some of the practical issues raised, and address questions from the floor.
Following the formal session, please stay to continue the Conversation with your medical and legal colleagues over refreshments.
This event is scheduled as part of our Scottish Annual Medico-legal Expert Witness Conference.
