Our Conference of Counsel course is designed to support and develop the skills of medicolegal experts with a personal injury or clinical negligence practice.
Our training Faculty for this session are:

The online training course will take approximately three hours.
Task one – online presentations
The presentations by Paul Sankey, Dr Tom Boyd and Mr Richard Kerr introduce the purpose of the Conference with Counsel and when in the litigation process conferences are likely to take place. They discuss Conference format, and share tips for preparing for and attending Conference, as well as what actions are likely to be taken afterwards.
Task two – Review of the Agenda
Read Dr Simon Fox QC’s powerpoint on Conference with Counsel, and the Agenda prepared by Dr Simon Fox QC for our Mock Conference. Prepare a short reflection on how you would prepare for the conference.
Task three – Conferences with Counsel observation exercise
Observe a Mock Claimant Conference with Counsel, Instructing Solicitor, Medical Expert and Client.
By observing the processes and exchanges, you will see and understand how a Conference with Counsel is where the evidence is really tested. This Conference can really make or break the Claimant’s case. You will appreciate the importance of detailed preparation and learn techniques on how to deal with robust challenges to your opinion.
Task four – Short Assessment
Reflect on what you’ve seen, and your opinion of the Expert. Complete the course by answering a short set of MCQs to consolidate your knowledge.
Our training is accredited by the RCS (Eng) for CPD. On completion of the course a CPD certificate will be sent for five hours.
